Some years ago, an איש חשוב approached me with a fascinating request for a composition. His first son was approaching his Bar Mitzva and as it was around the time of Lag Ba'Omer, he asked if I could perhaps write this composition with the theme of the Hailiger (Holy) Rashbi in mind. After much research (this was pre-search engine times) in an attempt to find some connection between the Rashbi and the concept of Bar Mitzva, I was BS"D directed to a Zohar Hakodoish dealing with a piece of history that actually spoke of a personal Bar Mitzva the Rashbi was celebrating for his son, Rebbi Elozor Ben Reb Shimon who had reached the age of Bar Mitzva (13).
This passage (in Aramaic, the language the Zohar is written in, depicts the wonderful story of Reb Shimon himself preparing the seating arrangements for the Seuda to which all the great sages of the generation were invited to. Reb Shimon describes his exultation at the Simcha describing it as the most perfect Simcha one can make. When asked as to why this was so, he answers: "Because this is the day my son receives his Yetzer Tov!" And what better day can there be in one's life!
Then came the translation into Hebrew to make it relatable to the non-Aramaic speakers and the composition followed BS"D. The arrangement was done by the great Mona Rosenblum and the song performed by Moshe Rosenblum.
