On the last night of Chanukah, as the menorah’s flames burned bright, filling the room with warmth and kedusha, renowned composer R’ Cheskie Weisz sat in quiet reflection. Surrounded by the glow of the neiros, he began to sing, a melody flowing from his heart—one that captured the deepest tefillos of a Yid.
As the final notes faded, his voice rested on the words: "שועתנו קבל ושמע צעקתנו"—“Accept our outcry and hear our cries.” A plea straight from the soul, lifted through song.
When R’ Cheskie approached me with this niggun, I connected with it immediately. The raw emotion in every note, the tefillah woven into the melody—it spoke to me in a way few songs do. Bringing it to life has been an incredible journey, with Yanky Steinmetz joining me on vocals and elevating the song even further with his brilliant arrangement.
This song is just a glimpse of what’s to come. I’m working on a full album of R’ Cheskie Weisz’s compositions—a collection of songs filled with heart, depth, and the timeless power of niggunim that uplift the neshama. In the meantime, let “Yodeah Ta’alumos” carry you.
