Lyrics:
I went out to the forest
With my bag full of regrets
And I found myself a spot
So I could sit and just connect
I opened up my heart
I pleaded and I begged
Oh the trees
were watered when I wept
I said sorry for my wrongs
For all the times I’ve strayed
This guilt must be the reason
Life hasn’t gotten my way
But then a whisper in the leaves
Found its way to me
And in that moment my entire world would change
It starts with you
It starts with you
Until you learn to love yourself
There’s nothing I can do
The forgiveness that you seek
Does not begin with me
Listen child cuz it’s the truth
It starts with you
In what felt like an instant
Clear skies turned dark and grey
A storm full of emotion
Overwhelmed me as I prayed
In order to let go
You need to feel it all in full
Into the waves of sorrow
I was pulled
It starts with you
It starts with you
Until you learn to love yourself
There’s nothing I can do
The forgiveness that you seek
Does not begin with me
Listen child cuz it’s the truth
It starts with you
Suddenly there was silence
Out amongst the trees
The world was just waiting
For me to finally breathe
I went and did the hardest thing
That I could ever do
I whispered to myself
I forgive you…
It starts with you
It starts with you
Once you learn to love yourself
There’s nothing you can’t do
The acceptance that you seek
Will come so easily
Trust me I know it’s the truth
It starts with you
