Holocaust Survivors Interviews #3 – Michoel Buchinger

On July 20, 2026, I had the privilege of interviewing my great-uncle Reb Michoel Buchinger, a Holocaust survivor born in March 1929 in Vác (Weitzen), Hungary. Today, he resides in New Square, New York.
These interviews are an effort to ensure that future generations can continue to learn directly from those who lived through the Holocaust, as every survivor carries a firsthand account of one of history's darkest chapters. Especially as the number of survivors continues to decline, preserving their voices becomes increasingly urgent.
I hope this interview not only honors Rabbi Buchinger's experiences but also encourages others to visit survivors in their communities, listen to their stories, and preserve their memories while we still have the opportunity.
Their testimonies remind us that hatred is never acceptable, demonstrate the resilience of the human spirit, and reinforce why we must never forget.
